Restriction of the cow gate: Important parking access in Potsdam closed for necessary civil engineering work
cow gate is closed for eleven days: construction work in the Park Sanssouci
From July 15, the entrance to Park Sanssouci, the cow gate, will be closed for at least eleven days. The Prussian Palaces and Gardens Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG) Foundation has announced that both the vehicle and pedestrian traffic will probably be impaired by July 26th. This measure affects the Potsdam-West district in particular
The reason for the blocking is necessary civil engineering work as part of the overall renovation of the dairy at the cow gate, which should be completed by the end of 2024. During this time, pedestrians can reach the monkey gang via Lennéstrasse and use a bicycle slide route.
The construction work is financed by the second special investment program for the Prussian castles and gardens, which was launched on the initiative of the federal government as well as the states of Brandenburg and Berlin by 2030. This master plan aims to maintain and protect important monuments from the Berlin and Potsdam castle landscape.
Two Prussian locks in Potsdam closed from autumn
In the course of the renovation work in Park Sanssouci, two Prussian castles in Potsdam will also be closed to visitors from autumn. The measures are part of a comprehensive plan to preserve the cultural heritage of the region in the long term.
The blocking of the cow gate and the associated construction work represent a temporary restriction, which, however, will contribute to the preservation of the historical building fabric and to improve the infrastructure in the park in the long term. Residents and visitors are asked for understanding for the inconvenience that are associated with this necessary measure.
