Edeka in Berlin does without fireworks - a sign of true love of animals!

Preparations for New Year's Eve in Berlin are progressing quickly. From December 28, 2024, the fireworks can be sold in the shops and many Berliners are looking forward to the traditional New Year's Eve with fireworks. In the supermarkets and discounters, however, the shelves are often empty, since the sought -after goods are out of print within a very short time, such as Kaufda reported. The prices for bangs and rockets start at around 10 euros. Popular articles such as rocket packages that offer fascinating lighting effects are quickly gone, which is why many are advised to strike early.

Not all supermarkets take part in the sales sale. The Edeka in Wannsee has again decided not to offer fireworks. Kristin Köbernik, the owner of the market, explains on her Facebook page that she cannot ignore the stress and fear, fireworks in pets and wild animals. She is ready to accept angered customers and losses in sales to act for the sake of the animals, such as Berlin Live . Many customers show solidarity with this decision, although there are also critical voices that doubt the effectiveness of such measures.

fireworks and traditions

Traditionally, fireworks are celebrated in Germany at the turn of the year to greet the new year and to drive away evil spirits. The sale of the fireworks takes place in a narrow time frame and draws many people into the shops every year, while other markets decide against the sale and instead rely on animal welfare. The bleeding, which is currently no longer allowed, was replaced by wax casts and remains a popular tradition for New Year's Eve. With all these different views of the fireworks, it remains to be hoped that everyone can look forward to a happy and peaceful new year.
