EBA objection to TVO project: Berlin transport administration remains optimistic

New hope for tangential traffic plan despite hurdles

The plans for the Tangential connection East (TVO) in Berlin face challenges after the Federal Railway Authority has expressed concerns. Nevertheless, the Berliner Transport administration to find a solution. The TVO is a long-awaited road project in the east of the capital and is said to make an important connection between Marzahn-Hellersdorf and Treptow-Köpenick.

The Federal Railway Authority expressed concerns about the project because it raises questions about prioritization over other means of transport. In particular, the possible effects on rail connections have led to discussions. It is emphasized that the state of Berlin may go beyond its skills when planning and uses important rail areas for road construction.

Despite these concerns, the Berlin administration is optimistic and emphasizes that the TVO is of outstanding importance. Representatives of the transport administration firmly believe in an agreement with the Federal Railway Authority. It is pointed out that the tvo has been planned for a long time and represents an urgently needed cross -connection in the transport network.

The planned TVO could cause costs of at least 400 million euros and realized in 2027 at the earliest. However, it is pointed out that any additional costs for rail connections planned in parallel have to be taken into account in order to avoid negative effects on other traffic projects.
