The tense situation in Miesbach due to the refugee accommodation and the associated burdens for the municipality has meant that the view of Berlin is now looking at Berlin. In a crisis discussion in the Miesbacher town hall, Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller explained the pressing problems on site to the member of the Bundestag Alexander Radwan. The aim is that the situation at the municipal level relaxes as soon as possible.
The accommodation of refugees in the district's own gyms from vocational school and high school poses major challenges. The dynamic situation in which new refugees are constantly coming and going is a burden on the social and regulatory office. At the high school, 70 of 190 places are already occupied by Ukrainians, at the vocational school there are 134 out of 150 places.
Another factor that increases the pressure on Miesbach is the lack of living space. After completing the recognition procedure, recognized asylum seekers have to clear the accommodation in order to make room for new refugees. However, there are no suitable accommodations for these people, which leads to an additional burden for the city.
You can also feel the effects of refugee accommodation at school. While Ukrainians have a maternity leave of three months in order to prepare for the compulsory schooling, children of other refugees must be integrated into everyday school life immediately. However, the willingness of the parents to participate in the school is not very pronounced. This leads to resentment among teachers who are burdened in addition to the integration of refugee children.
The helper circle, which takes care of the refugees, also reports problems. The willingness to cooperate decreases and it becomes clear that the situation in Miesbach reaches its limits.
The member of the Bundestag Alexander Radwan takes this information to Berlin and emphasizes that those responsible do their best on site but reach their limits. The teachers are also generally willing to teach refugee children, but it becomes clear that something has to change.
As a positive step, Radwan evaluates the migration agreement between the European Union and Tunisia. It is important to withdraw the basis for the tractors and to prevent incorrect promises to refugees. An expansion of the agreements to other countries such as Morocco and Egypt is necessary.
At the local level, it is important to pay attention to regional conditions regardless of the Königstein key. The lack of living space in particular is a challenge. Mayor Braunmiller therefore appeals to reduce the pressure so as not to get the System to collapse. Alexander Radwan should provide support from Berlin.
