DRF air rescue consecrates new rescue helicopter station in Berlin-Buch
A new rescue helicopter, Christoph 100, has been in use in Berlin since the beginning of the year. The DRF air rescue held the official inauguration of the station in Berlin-Buch, to which around 150 guests were invited. The board of directors of the DRF air rescue emphasized that their order was to provide people in medical emergency situations the best possible and fastest help. In the first four months, Christoph 100 was alerted to around 500 missions. The rescue helicopter is available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and has already made around 100 missions in the dark.
The State Secretary for the Interior of the State of Berlin, Christian Hochgrebe, emphasized in his speech the importance of the new helicopter location for Berlin and the surrounding area. The air rescue teams are indispensable in an emergency and in crisis situations. Representatives of the Berlin Fire Brigade and the Bundeswehr Hospital Berlin, each of whom represent the emergency doctors and emergency paramedics on board Christoph 100, also emphasized the partnership -based cooperation and the high quality of patient care.
The Berlin-Buch station opened by the DRF air rescue on the command of the Berlin Senate Department for Interior and Sport on January 2, 2024 and is the only German station with a year-round operational readiness from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The pilots fly inserts in the dark with night vision devices. Christoph 100 is alerted as a faster emergency supplier and can reach locations within a radius of 60 kilometers within a maximum of 15 minutes of flight. In addition, the helicopter can also be used for intensive care.
The DRF air rescue based in Filderstadt is one of the largest air rescue organizations in Europe.
