Dramatic delay chaos: ODEG sets new railcar connection
rail commuters in the Rathenow region are currently faced with massive delays and problems. The RB51 route, which is operated by the East German railway company (ODEG), is particularly affected. The ODEG recently announced that the new Alstom vehicles that were used on this route have to be taken out of the passenger after only eight weeks.
press spokeswoman Dietmute Graf explained that this decision was made due to repeated considerable quality deficiencies. The vehicles are no longer portable for passengers and staff. This has drastic effects on commuters who rely on the connection between Rathenow and Brandenburg an der Havel. Bus emergency traffic has been set up that runs every two hours.
Originally, busnut traffic should take until Saturday at 2 a.m. However, it is now clear that the problems will last at least until the end of July. How it continues afterwards is not evident from the communications from the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association and the ODEG. Lars Gehrke, managing director of ODEG, emphasizes that a replacement concept is being worked on that is to be implemented as soon as possible.
