Digital vehicle approval: ZDK demands rapid progress for everyone

The clock ticks! One day before the state's Conference of Transport (VMK) opens its gates, the Central Association of German Motor vehicle trade (ZDK) raises alarm. The urgent appeal: Finally, digital vehicle approval as part of the I-KFZ level 4 to be implemented quickly! This innovation could become a real profit for everyone involved-citizens, administration and vehicle businesses.

But what is behind it? Only 68 percent of the registration authorities in Germany still use the online service of the I-KFZ portals. From the current data of the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport, it shows that of 411 registration offices, only 281 are able to offer this service without restrictions. There is massive need for action here!

dissatisfaction with slow progress

"We are surprised that a simple process of vehicle approval has still not been fully digitized for over a year," said the upgraded ZDK general manager Dr. Kurt-Christian Scheel. He urges the state transport minister to put this time -consuming topic on the agenda as quickly as possible so that the advantages of digital vehicle approval can finally be used by everyone nationwide.

The ZDK initiative is not so pressing for no reason: the goal is a significant relief for the administration and, above all, for customers. Less bureaucracy means more time and less costs - one more reason why this process has to be promoted.

political support required

The ZDK has already pointed out the challenges associated with the introduction of I-KFZ-4 in separate letters to Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing and Oliver Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia and chairman of the VMK. The message is clear: it takes a nationwide availability of the I-KFZ portals and immediately!

"" It is absolutely incomprehensible why such an important topic that is of crucial importance for customers has not even gained the agenda of the Conference of Transport Ministers, "adds Dr. Scheel and leaves no doubt about the urgency of this digitization.

The question that is now in the room: Will the Minister of Transport finally react to the demands of the ZDK? The next session could be decisive and soon mark a turning point! It remains to be seen whether the pressure is bearing fruit or whether the digitization of vehicle approval continues to be left behind.
