Germany needs sustainable future investments for the way to the export world champion

Bundes budget: BNW defends core concerns for sustainable economic growth

The planned federal budget meets criticism on the part of the Federal Association of Sustainable Economy (BNW). According to Dr. Katharina Reuter, Managing Director of the BNW, focuses too much on short -term financial consolidation and neglects long -term perspectives. Despite a announced growth initiative, there is a risk of losing connection to future markets. Germany must now invest in international supply chains and develop technologies for a decarbonized world. This requires financial means to ensure sustainable export success.

The BNW speaks against a rigid maintenance of the debt brake. A responsible fiscal policy should not only take into account the current budget situation, but also include future developments. The association therefore calls for the introduction of an investment clause for future -related expenses and the examination of an investment premium for sustainable company investments. Germany must now invest in areas such as education, infrastructure, climate protection and future technologies in order to remain competitive. It is regrettable that the traffic light coalition still adheres to climate-damaging subsidies instead of using funds for promising technologies, according to the BNW.

Another central requirement of the BNW concerns international responsibility. With the supply chain protection law (LKSG), Germany has already taken important steps to counteract human rights violations and environmental destruction in globalized supply chains. However, the BNW warns of the LKSG reporting obligations because this could violate EU law. Instead, the association demands clear and consistent legislation on sustainability reporting from the government. This is the only way to achieve long -term planning security and strengthening German competitiveness. The BNW also supports the requirement to open the market for qualified environmental and sustainability inspectors in order to prevent market concentration and to position German companies as a pioneer of international standards.

The Federal Association of Sustainable Economy (BNW) has been an independent corporate association for environmental, climate protection and social sustainability since 1992. With its 700 member companies, the association represents more than 200,000 jobs and includes both large companies and medium-sized companies, Cleanetech startups and social entrenreurs. The BNW brings the voice of progressive companies directly to political Berlin in order to promote sustainable economic growth.
