Deutsche Telekom contradicts Höcke: Legal steps checked

Deutsche Telekom has opposed the claim of AfD politician Björn Höcke that the company used to use the advertising slogan "Everything for Germany". A telecom spokesman described this statement as wrong and announced legal steps. The sentence that Höcke addressed comes from a forbidden solution of the SA, the paramilitary organization of the NSDAP. Due to the use of this slogan in a speech, Höcke has to answer in court.

Telekom had already taken legal steps against AfD federal spokeswoman Alice Weidel last year, which had made similar claims about the advertising slogan. Weidel was asked to refrain from these statements, which she promised. In the current case, Höcke emphasized that during his speech he did not know that it was a SA slogan, but only regarded it as a traditional saying. The discussion about the use of historical slogans and the reactions of the parties involved remain.

It is expected that Höcke will have to appear in Halle next week in front of the district court in order to answer for the accusation of using indicators of constitutional organizations. Telekom has clearly clarified that the accusations of Höcke in relation to its past as a company do not correspond to the truth and examines legal steps. The argument between political parties and companies such as Telekom, because of such claims, illustrates the sensitivity and the conflicts that are associated with the memory of historical events.
