Deutsche Telekom contradicts AfD politician: Legal steps checked
Deutsche Telekom reacts vigorously to the accusations of the AfD politician Björn Höcke in relation to a supposed earlier advertising slogan of the company and examines legal steps. Höcke claimed in a TV duel against the CDU politician Mario Voigt that Telekom used the sentence "Everything for Germany" a few years ago. However, a company spokesman emphasized that this claim was wrong and announced legal measures.
The sentence "Everything for Germany" in question is a forbidden solution of the SA, the paramilitary organization of the NSDAP. Due to the use of this slogan in a speech, Höcke will have to answer for the allegation of using indicators in Halle next week.
Telekom had already taken steps against AfD federal spokeswoman Alice Weidel in the previous year, after she also claimed that the group had used the relevant sentence as an advertising slogan. After a request from Telekom, Weidel agreed to refrain from this claim in the future.
In the TV duel justified Höcke, who himself is a history teacher, his choice of words and claimed that during the speech he did not know that it was a SA slogan. He described the sentence as a "common saying". (dpa)
