Deutsche Telekom checks legal steps against Höcke's wrong statement

Deutsche Telekom has resisted the claim of AfD politician Björn Höcke, according to which the company used the advertising saying "Everything for Germany" in the past. A company spokesman described this statement as wrong and announced legal steps. The sentence mentioned is a forbidden solution of the SA, the paramilitary fighting organization of the NSDAP. Due to the use of this slogan in a speech, Höcke has to answer in court.

Telekom had already taken the AfD Federal Proterer Alice Weidel last year, after she also claimed that the group used the sentence as a advertising slogan. Weidel was asked to refrain from this claim, whereupon she agreed to take this into account in the future. Höcke defended his choice of words and stated that he did not know during the speech that it was a SA slogan, since in his view it was a "common saying".

It remains to be seen how the legal steps of Deutsche Telekom will be against Höcke and whether an agreement can be reached. The dispute over the use of historically stressed slogans for advertising purposes illustrates the sensitivity of such topics in public and the relevance of historical and political awareness in the present.
