The route rights for Asian space are controlled by the Federal Ministry of Transport. Giffey emphasized the importance of long-haul flights and explained that Berlin would make it more attractive for world congresses. A large congress event can bring up to 100 million euros to the city.

Visit Berlin boss Kieker also criticized the small number of long-haul flights from East Germany compared to the west. While there are 170 to 180 flights to the west every day, only six long -haul flights start from East Germany.
