Demo in Berlin: Psychotherapists are calling for urgent financing reform

chaos for psychotherapy: The call for financing is loud!

Psychotherapy needs manual support! While the federal government is withdrawing behind their inactivity, many are desperately waiting for help. An alarming situation! On October 16 in Berlin, numerous psychotherapists, students and representatives from various organizations gather before the Bundestag. They come together to under the motto "Finance further education now!" Finally to be heard for your screams for changes.

The psychotherapeutic sector is at a critical point. How can it be that the financing of psychotherapy training is still not regulated? This worrying gap endangers the supply of the population. With dramatic waiting times of weeks or even months for those seeking therapy, the pressure is greater than ever to find quick solutions!

The dramatic call for action

On Tuesday the time has finally come - the masses are getting loud! Prominent representatives of the psychology and the medical profession have announced speeches to speak to politics in conscience. Among them Dr. Andrea Benecke, President of the Federal Psychotherapist Chamber, and Prof. Dr. Eva-Lotta Brakemeier speak of the German Society for Psychology. Political voices such as Dirk Heidenblut (SPD) and Katrin Vogler (Die Linke) are also on site to set a sign of solidarity.

The pressure on the federal government is huge! Listeners had already taken place in the petition committee in July 2023, and yet there is no solution. The draft law in the health care law (GVSG) recognizes the need for financing, but there is no concrete regulation that actually improves the situation. And while the time passes, the situation for therapists is becoming more and more precarious for therapists and people seeking help.

"Without adequate financing, there is no longer any psychotherapeutic youngsters!" Warns Dr. Johanna Thünker urgently. At a time when the need for psychological support is more high than ever, every delay is unforgivable. We are faced with massive undersupply of the population if it is not acted immediately!

politics looks away!

The alliance rises with united forces from psychologists, therapists and those affected to finally request the government's necessary initiative. The message is clear: it cannot be that people who are urgently looking for help, like the therapists in training, are left in the rain!

Time runs and the defects in the regulation are intolerable. It's time for deeds! The pressure in Berlin is increasing, and the participants of the demo are determined to shake politics and to fight for a legal regulation. The aim is to significantly improve the future of psychotherapeutic care in Germany.
