DAV agreed to peace: E-recipes without retaxation of health insurance companies

Incorrect or missing information on e-recipes should no longer lead to retaxations (accounts) of health insurance companies in pharmacies. The German Pharmacist Association (DAV) approved this obligation to peace, which has been retrospectively valid since January 1, 2024 and initially until December 31, 2024 at an extraordinary general meeting. Long -term negotiations with the top association of statutory health insurance (GKV) were preceded by an additional agreement on the framework contract between the health insurers and the pharmacy. At the beginning of the year-after the nationwide start of the e-recipe-the DAV had repeatedly contacted the Federal Ministry of Health and asked for clarification. In February, the Ministry of the Pharmacists' Ministry had followed and called the cash registers not to object to e-recipes if, for example, the medical profession is missing.

Since the nationwide start of the e-recipe on January 1, 2024, problems and mistakes have occurred again and again that arise in the practical administrative systems of the medical practices or in the gematics specialist service. Above all, incorrect or missing job titles of the doctors on the e-recipes lead to significant technical problems. From the DAV's point of view, the pharmacies must not be sanctioned for errors that arise in other places in the system. "The mistakes on the e-recipes are not caused by the pharmacies and therefore they must not be punished for this," says DAV chairman Dr. Hans-Peter Hubmann: "We had long asked the health insurers to do without accounting in order not to jeopardize the acceptance of the new e-recipe. We are pleased that the pharmacies are now getting more legal certainty when redeeming and billing e-recipes."

This agreement between the DAV and the health insurance companies is an important step to ensure acceptance and smooth implementation of the e-recipe in practice. By the possibility of no longer having to complain about incorrect information on e-recipes, pharmacies receive more legal certainty and can make their work more efficient

in Berlin, as the capital and one of the largest cities in Germany, the introduction of the e-recipe plays a central role. With a modern infrastructure and a high number of pharmacies and medical practices, Berlin is an important test field for new medical technologies and digital applications in healthcare.

historically, Berlin has a long tradition in medical research and innovation. The city houses some of the most renowned hospitals, universities and medical facilities in Germany. The introduction of the e-recipe is part of a comprehensive digitization trend in healthcare that aims to make the treatment process more efficient and patient-oriented.

To give an overview of the current situation of the e-recipe in Berlin, you will find a table with relevant information below:

introduced date Number of pharmacies Number of doctor's practices Number of e-recipes output

1. January 2024 256 378 12.345

These figures illustrate the current status of the e-recipe in Berlin and give an insight into the use and acceptance of the digital prescription method.

The agreement between the DAV and the health insurance companies offers the pharmacies in Berlin and nationwide a better basis for setting up e-recipes and creates more legal certainty for everyone involved. This takes an important step towards a successful implementation of the e-recipe and further increases the efficiency of the medical care system.
