Chor’r’us in Schöneberg: live pop and soul for all music lovers!

Schöneberg, Berlin, Deutschland - Choirs are very popular in Berlin, and two special ensembles have developed remarkably in recent years. They focus on both pop music and different other genres.

The ensemble "Chor’r’us" offers a diverse repertoire that consists of arrangements from pop and film music for choir and piano. In addition, the program also includes classic pieces and catchy canons. The choir consists of around 25 singers in the voices of soprano to bass. Under the direction of Christian, the members meet every Thursday evening for joint rehearsals in Schöneberg, Berlin. "Chor’r’us" is an integral part of the Berlin choir scene and appeals to both young and young -at -heart music lovers. The choir's repertoire is opened up by its mixture of classic and modern elements that are developed together.

Die Belsingers: A choir for pop and folk

The "Belsingers" were founded in 2016 and are a self -organized choir that emerged from a handful of music -loving international adults. Their musical orientation specializes primarily in pop, soul and folk, supplemented by influences from other music styles. The choir has set itself the task of promoting the interaction of its members while working together.

Another remarkable initiative is the indie pop choir, which was founded in autumn 2016 and now has over 40 members. Under the direction of Lena Sundermeyer, this choir focuses on songs by artists such as Alt-J, The Smiths and Florence and the Machine. The rehearsals take place on Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the district center on Teutoburger Platz. The relatives of the choir usually sing in 5-part arrangements, whereby the song selection is common.

creativity and community

Popular performance locations for the Indie Pop Choir are the Passion Church and the cultural center Peter Edel. The choir also takes part in festivals such as "Total Choral" and "#dabei", where it can present his love for music and community. The choral voice training is based on the Lichtenberger® method for applied voice physiology, which enables a multifaceted sound and an effortless voice.

A common feature of this choir is the search for new members. While the indie pop choir is currently looking for bass and baritone voices, other voice groups already have waiting lists. Interested parties even have the opportunity to take part in the indie pop up choir or to be introduced to Lena in individual lessons to experience the community of choral music up close.

These choirs impressively show that musical communities in Berlin promote creativity and at the same time create wonderful social connections. The variety of musical styles reflects the cultural openness of the city and invites people of all ages to participate.
