Two -direction cycle path between Reichweindamm and Goerdelersteg is being expanded

In the 9th calendar week, the preparatory measures for the establishment of a two -way cycle path between Reichweindamm and Goerdelersteg have started. The almost 400 -meter -long section, which is part of the priority route network, is widened to four meters in order to be able to run the bicycle traffic separately from the walk. However, around 20 trees have to be felled. As a compensation measure, the district will ensure 25 new plantings at suitable locations. In the long term, a gap between Charlottenburg North and the "Opera Route" should establish itself here.

The planned establishment of a two -way cycle path between Reichweindamm and Goerdelersteg is expected to have a positive impact on cycling in the affected environment. The wider cycle path area will lead to improved security for cyclists and help to ensure that cycling traffic becomes more efficient and more comfortable. In addition, the planned new planting of 25 trees as a compensation measure will help to ensure that the green share in the area is preserved or even increases.

Historically, the importance of bike paths and cycling in urban areas has increased significantly in recent years. More and more people are using the bike as an environmentally friendly and healthy alternative to the car. This makes measures to improve the cycling infrastructure more and more important.

In the following table, some facts on cycling and infrastructure are shown in the affected region:

| Topic | Facts |
| ——————————- | ——————————— |
| Number of cyclists | Rising in recent years |
| Length of the cycle path network | Increasingly with planned extensions |
| Accidents with cyclists | Declining thanks to improved infrastructure |
| Investments in cycle paths | Continuously increasing |

The establishment of the new two -way direction cycling is an important step to promote cycling and improve urban infrastructure. It remains to be hoped that the measure will help to encourage more people to use the bike as a means of transport and to protect the environment and your own health.
