A very special event is imminent: The 200th anniversary of the death of Johann Christian Gottfried Dressel, the visionary pastor and reformer, is celebrated in a large festival program! The charismatic pastor, who decisively influenced the development of his city until his death on October 16, 1824, is recognized by numerous events. The district office Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, the Luisen church community, the Kulzurgut and Visitberlin association have together organized an impressive program that should not be able to miss a more history.

Where does the whole spectacle take place, do you ask yourself? In the Administrative Information Center (VIZ), Otto-Suhr-Allee 100 in the Charlottenburg town hall-and that on the 2nd floor! Here you can experience the fascinating stories about Pastor Dressel and get to know his important contributions to urban development.

A new topic is illuminated every Friday evening. On October 18, 2024 at 6 p.m., Katja Baumeister-Frenzel takes us on a journey into the fascinating world of "the dream of the king: Charlottenburg through the eyes of the painter Wilhelm Barth". A must for art lovers and history of history!

A week later, on October 25, 2024, the speaker Irene Fritsch will take a close look at the influence of Dressel on school education in the emerging city between 1778 and 1824. Important when you consider how much education shapes the progress of a city!

On November 1, 2024, guests can expect another exciting lecture: Historian and museum expert Birgit Jochens will take a decisive role in Dressel's crucial role in urban poor care and the construction of the first poor hospital. So much commitment to the weakest of society - that deserves respect!

But that's not all! Until October 31, 2024, there are fascinating exhibitions in the Rathausgalerie on the 2nd floor with historical writings, maps and time documents that bring the life and work of dressing alive. Entry is free of charge, so do not miss the chance to be part of this unique anniversary celebration!
