Temporary cycle path on the Spandauer Damm: More security for cyclists!
A temporary bike path between Sophie-Charlotten-Straße and Klausenerplatz is currently being set up on Spandauer Damm. This special cycle path should safely redirect the bike traffic towards the city center to the separated road.
The previous bike path guide carries considerable risks, especially for "dooring accidents", in which suddenly open-open car doors can endanger cyclists. In order to reduce this risk, the bicycle traffic is temporarily moved to the road.
The financing and implementation of this measure takes place by the civil engineering department of the district. The Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment (SenMVKU) has ordered the implementation. A permanent and secure solution is currently being worked on by the responsible bodies.
The steps to secure cycling on the Spandauer Damm are actively promoted to minimize the dangers for cyclists and to improve the traffic situation as a whole.
