City walk terror, resistance and memory in Charlottenburg on June 5, 2024
On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, the Museum Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf invites you to a historic city walk with the topic of "Terror, resistance and memory in Charlottenburg". The meeting point is in front of Villa Oppenheim on Otto-Grüneberg-Weg. The walk leads through the quarter around the Villa Oppenheim, which have been the scene of political violence since the early 1930s.
During this time, the SA-Sturm 33 spread terror and there was also communist resistance in the "small wedding". But there were also people from other political directions who resisted and opposed Nazi politics. Along historical locations, selected events and personalities of protest and resistance are presented during the city walk. It is also discussed how the resistance has been remembered since 1945 and which characters have been set in urban space.
Interested parties can register for the city walk on the phone number (030) 9029-24106 or by email at museum@charlottenburg-wilmersdorf.de. Further dates for similar events will be published on the museum website. The format of the city walk is from City tax funds for special tourist projects in the district by the Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Companies and carried out in cooperation with Visit Berlin. Participation in the city walk offers an exciting way to learn more about the history of Charlottenburg and the resistance to the Nazi regime.
