Playground Gallesteig/Olbersstrasse closed for vandalism
The blocking of the Gallesteig/Olbersstraße playground from April 15, 2024 Due to the non -guaranteed public security, local effects on the residents of the quarter. Lately, the playground has been visited by unauthorized persons who distribute garbage and leftovers and leave empty alcohol bottles. Despite increased controls and daily cleaning, these problems cannot be under control, which led to an infestation with rats.
The blocking means that children and families have to temporarily switch to the playgrounds at Mierendorffplatz or on Tegeler Weg. These locations could offer an alternative due to the spatial proximity, but it can be expected that the number of visitors will increase there.
Historically, the playground Gallesteig/Olbersstrasse was a popular meeting place for families and children from the area. The current situation that led to his blocking is therefore unfortunate and shows the consequences of vandalism and a lack of city care.In the table below, information about the playgrounds on Mierendorffplatz and on Tegeler Weg are listed:
| Playground | Address | Opening times |
| ——————— | --———————————- |
| Mierendorffplatz | Mierendorffplatz | 24 hours |
| Tegeler Weg | Tegeler Weg | 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. |
It remains to be seen how long the blocking of the Gallesteig/Olbersstrasse playground will exist and whether measures can be taken to restore public security and open the playground to the community.
