Smart Space Hardenbergplatz: Innovative use of public space
The pilot project Smart Space Hardenbergplatz, the Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut (Fraunhofer HHI) and XRBB e.V. provide information on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. about the innovative use of public space, XR technology in city tourism and digital twins, AI and Citizen Science in urban development.
On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the pilot project Smart Space Hardenbergplatz (HAD) will hold a presentation on the current status of the project on Hardenbergplatz together with the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district office. A solution is to be developed within the project by mid -2026 to make areas of public space more efficient. A digital booking and negotiation platform is used to make public space more flexible. The area in front of the zoological garden is used as a test.
After the presentation on Hardenbergplatz, the Fraunhofer HHI and XRBB e.V. will present their latest developments on the Salzufer 15. XROCO (XRBB) will convert archived media into living XR tours with the help of AI in order to enable historical and future-oriented urban experiences. The Fraunhofer HHI will give an insight into the Bimkit project that uses AI and cloud technologies to optimize the life cycle of buildings, as well as the DigitalTwin project, which develops digital tools and techniques for networking construction projects.
The pilot project Smart Space Hardenbergplatz is part of the Smart City strategy “Together Digital: Berlin”. The aim of the project is to transform the area in front of the Zoologischer Garden train station into a smart town square by 2026. With the help of a digital platform, areas in public space should be flexibly booked and used, mobility improves and the quality of stay increases. A transdisciplinary approach is pursued that brings together the administration, business, science and the population and include the users of the forecourt.
