Clean neighborhoods in view: Network meeting in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf!

The first network meeting entitled “Ideas and perspectives for clean neighborhoods” will take place in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district on October 1, 2025. The event starts at 6 p.m. in the ballroom of the Charlottenburg Town Hall, Otto-Suhr-Allee 100, 10585 Berlin. The meeting is organized by the Education for Sustainable Development Office (SBNE) in collaboration with the NUK+N coordination office. The aim of the meeting is to promote exchange between neighborhood initiatives, district centers, clubs and housing associations and to offer timely information and advice on the implementation of the BSR neighborhood days.

The BSR neighborhood days represent a central focus. They offer a platform for discussions and offers on cleanliness and environmental education that are aimed at local actors. The invitation is aimed at all interested parties who would like to actively contribute to the cleanliness of the neighborhoods. Registrations are due by September 20, 2025 at the email address sbne@charlottenburg-wilmersdorf.de possible.

Main topics and calls for exchange

A central goal of the event is to promote a shared commitment to cleanliness and environmental education in the city. During the meeting, information will be provided about funding opportunities to avoid waste and create cleaner neighborhoods. In addition, various exchange formats are offered to strengthen cooperation between the different actors.

As part of the BSR Kieztage, the SBNE separation mobile is also used with a recycling quiz to clearly explain practical approaches to waste avoidance and to actively involve the participants.

Education for sustainability

An essential basis for such projects is the inclusion of young people in education for sustainable development. Authorities and organizations, as described in the report by the Federal Environment Agency, strive to include children and young people in social and environmental policy-making processes. This is seen as crucial for the transformation of society towards greater sustainability. Consistent participation in the development of environmental education offerings is of great importance in order to achieve effective results and increase acceptance among the population.

For the successful implementation of such initiatives, exchange between different areas is essential in order to find common solutions. The final report from the Federal Environment Agency addresses the requirements for target group-oriented environmental education offerings and the possibilities for achieving the desired effectiveness, thereby underlining the relevance of events such as the upcoming network meeting.
