S-Bahn chaos in Berlin: track work between Pichelsberg and Spandau!
Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, Deutschland - The S-Bahn Berlin continuously is working on making transport efficiently in the capital. From Tuesday, May 13th to Sunday, May 18, extensive maintenance work will take place on the tracks. The affected route extends between the Pichelsberg and Spandau train stations. During this period there will be no S-Bahn traffic between these two stops.
The work begins on Tuesday at 10 p.m. and end on Sunday at 7 a.m. In order to support travelers, replacement traffic is set up by bus, which from Pichelsberg to the S-Bahn stations Stresow and Spandau. Lines S3 and S9 will also be shortened during this time, whereby the departure times may differ from the usual time. Travelers to Spandau are also pointed out to plan more time for their trips.
alternative transport connections
Spandau can also be reached via the U7 underground line of the BVG. The switch to the subway can take place at Charlottenburg train station, which can be reached on foot from Wilmersdorfer Straße underground station. This offers passengers an additional way to continue their trip despite the S-Bahn restrictions.
For travelers who use other routes, there are also temporary changes. For example, no S-Bahn traffic with the S47 is offered between the train stations Baumschulenweg and Spindlersfeld, and here too, replacement traffic on buses is set up. Similar measures are also expected for other S-Bahn connections in the coming weeks to support the maintenance work on the tracks and to ensure the safety of passengers.
operating changes in the coming weeks
In addition to the work between Pichelsberg and Spandau, there are other planned operating changes in the coming days and weeks. On May 10th and 11th, for example, S-Bahn traffic between Friedrichstrasse and Zoological Garden is only offered every 20 minutes. Also on the route between Karlshorst and Ostkreuz there are changes in the night of May 12, where S-Bahn traffic also only runs every 20 minutes.
The Berlin S-Bahn asks all passengers to find out about the individual route on the websites and to adapt to the changes accordingly. Further information on the maintenance work can be found on the official S-Bahn Hamburg Page.
