Kalimba Workshop: Making music outdoors

The Heinrich Schulz library invites you to a special Kalimba workshop on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. . This unique course, which takes place in the picturesque environment of the meadow Alt-Lietzow directly behind the library, is aimed at all musicians from the age of 12 and offers the opportunity to get to know the fascinating instrument and make music together.

The Kalimba, also known as a thumb piano, has its origins in Africa and belongs to the family of lamellophones, i.e. instruments in which music is generated by plucking metal tongues. Players use their thumb to type in the tongues every rhythm, creating a melodic sound. Thanks to its simple playing style, the Kalimba is ideal for beginners and offers an accessible opportunity to experience and create music.

This event is not only an opportunity to learn a new instrument, it also promotes the sense of community among the participants. Making music together brings people together, strengthens social bonds and contributes to the development of a creative community. At a time when digitization and isolation often prevail, it is particularly important to create such common experience spaces.

Registration is required to participate in this free workshop. Interested parties should register early to secure their place and to enjoy this musical journey.
