Pedestrian security in the district: civil engineering continues traffic safety measures

The implementation of traffic safety measures for pedestrians: Inside in the district, the district is continuously progressing, as has recently been announced by the civil engineering department of the district office. Specifically, the crossing areas in the intersection area Rudolstädter Straße and Ermslebener Weg were produced at the beginning of this year. The borders were lowered and blocking areas on the road were marked to improve accessibility. In addition, the installation of bollards is planned to protect the blocking spaces from unauthorized parking.

These measures serve to promote walking and safety in the district, and are part of a series of activities that have been implemented since 2022. An example of this is the redesign of the confluence areas on Gierkeplatz, where similar measures such as lowering the borders, marking pictograms and blocking areas as well as the creation of additional bicycle parking systems were carried out.

Overall, these measures should help to improve traffic safety for pedestrians: inside and cyclists: to improve the inside of the district and to increase the attractiveness of local public transport. This is particularly important against the background of the increasing importance of sustainable mobility in urban rooms.

Here is a table with general information on foot traffic and the pathway in the district:

| Measure | Implementation time | Location | Type of measure |
| ———————— | --—————————————————————— |
| Lowering the Borde | In early 2022 | Rudolstädter Str. | Improvement of accessibility |
| Marking of pictograms and blocking areas | 2022 | Gierkeplatz | Increasing security for pedestrians: inside |
| Installation of bollards | In planning | Ermslebener Weg | Prevention of parking on blocking surfaces |
| Creation of bicycle parking systems | 2022 | Gierkeplatz | Promotion of bicycle traffic |

These measures are an important step to increase traffic safety in the district and the quality of life for the residents: to improve inside. They are also an example of the continuous adaptation of urban space to the needs of pedestrians: inside and cyclists: inside.
