Film Promised Land with discussion about Fracking on April 12, 2024
Next Friday, April 12, 2024, at 6 p.m., the film drama "Promised Land" will be shown in the Delphi Lux (Zoologischer Garden train station). The film, which lasts 106 minutes and is released from six years, shows the history of the company representative Steve Butler, played by Matt Damon, and his partner Sue Thomason, played by Frances McDormand, who are sent to a small-American town to convince the residents of the expansion plans of their natural gas companies. But they encounter resistance from environmentalists and committed residents.
After the demonstration, a discussion on fracking will take place. The long-term perspective of fracking for a greenhouse gas-neutral energy supply is discussed as well as the risks and possible alternatives. Andy Gheorghiu, Kathrin Henneberger and Julian Schwartzkopf are invited as interlocutors.
The event is organized by the Bildungs for Sustainable Development (SBNE) in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district office in cooperation with A TIP: TAP, the Kino Delphi Lux and the Berlin State Center for Political Education.
It is expected that the event awakens a broad interest in the local community and raises important questions about energy supply and environmental protection. Since fracking is also a controversial topic in Germany, the discussion offers the opportunity to illuminate different perspectives and enable an informative exchange.
Here is a table with further information about the discussion participants:

| Andy Ghorghiu | Campaigner & Consultant for Climate /Environmental Protection and Energy Policy |
| Kathrin Henneberger | MdB, chairwoman under Committee International Climate and Energy Policy |
| Julian Schwartzkopf | Energy & Climate Protection, German Environmental Aid e.V. |
It remains to be seen how the discussion will go and what knowledge can be gained from it. However, the event promises to become an informative and exciting event.
