Film & Talk #2030: Documentation about Skateistan girls in Kabul on February 2, 2024
On Friday, February 2, 2024, at 6 p.m., the film series "Film & Talk #2030" of the Bildungs Bildungs for Sustainable Development (SBNE) of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district shows the documentary "Learning to Skateboard in A War Zone (IF You’re A Girl)" by Carol Dysinger in the Kino Delphi Lux station. The film accompanies young Afghan girls and her teachers of the Skateistan initiative in Kabul and addresses the support of underprivileged girls in a country characterized by conflicts.
The non -profit organization Skateistan focuses on the support of girls in Afghanistan, which combines traditional school lessons with skateboard lessons in order to give girls better chances of regular school education. The film shows how the girls are supported by their teachers.
Following the demonstration, a conversation with Hala Khalaf (Deputy Executive Director Skateistan) and Anna Ramskogler-Witt (head of the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin) takes place, which deals with the topic of skating as a worldwide phenomenon and the special features of this sport. The challenges of Skateistan are also discussed in their project in Afghanistan.
The event series Film & Talk #2030 is a cooperation between the Education for Sustainable Development of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district with the Delphi Lux and the Berlin State Center for Political Education. School classes also have the opportunity to see the films as part of the school cinema offer.
