Unveiling: Elections in East Germany - right -wing extremism expert reports live!

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, a lecture with the title "Elections in East Germany" will take place at 7 p.m. in the Heinrich Schulz library. The renowned freelance journalist, author and expert in right -wing extremism, Matthias Meisner, will report on his work. Meisner was a political correspondent for the Berlin Tagesspiegel for a long time and will take an analysis after the state elections in the east and discuss questions from the audience.

In his lecture,

Meisner will respond to the importance of democratic elections and examine the challenges that the state and society have to face in the face of the changes in the party landscape. An interesting aspect will also be the role of potential constitutional enemies in security authorities such as the police and the Bundeswehr.

The event will be organized as part of the Berlin Democracy Day by the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf City Library and the Democracy Office Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. It is supported, among other things, by the federal program “Living Democracy” and various regional institutions.
