BUND promotes redesign of the Prussian park with 5.4 million euros
District City Councilor Oliver Schruoffeneger recently received another funding decision of over 5.4 million euros from Federal Minister of Building Klara Geywitz. This funding notice will be used for the climate -friendly redesign of the Prussian park. Overall, the federal government participates in this project with around nine million euros, which includes adapting a large inner -city green area to climate change.
The project will not only deal with questions of biodiversity and the introduction of biomass into the park, but will also focus on the topic of water management. District City Councilor Schruoffeger emphasized that the project was unique in size and complexity nationwide. It is to be examined how a public green area can contribute to drainage from neighboring private areas, while at the same time protection against flooding is guaranteed in the event of heavy rain events.
The approval of almost nine million euros from federal funds shows the recognition of the high technical quality of the planning for this project. The construction work should begin this year.
The redesign of the Prussian park will not only have a positive impact on the local environment, but will also serve as a showcase project for climate -friendly urban development. Adaptation to climate change will help to improve the quality of life of the residents and to make the city more resistant to extreme weather events.
historical data show that public green areas can play an important role in adapting to climate change. The redesign of the Prussian park is therefore an important step towards sustainable and future -oriented urban development.
