District office decides to join the local heating West eG in Eichkamp
In the last meeting, the district office decided to join the local heating West eG, which will build a new heating network with climate -neutral energy in the Eichkamp settlement. As a result, the plots of the Reinfeld school, Ernst-Adolf-Eschke-School, the Hans-Rosenthal sports facility on Kühner Weg and the Mommsenstadion will be supplied with heat for heating and hot water in the future. Over 100 residents have also shown interest to replace their oil and gas heaters by connecting to the local heating network.
This project, which can finally be implemented after more than twelve years of preparations, is expected to save around 1331 tons of greenhouse gases annually. Environmental City Councilor Oliver Schruoffenger emphasized the importance of regional local heating networks for CO2 savings and praised the cooperation of everyone involved for their many years of work on the project.
The decision of the district office to join the cooperative is a crucial step to implement the heat supply in Eichkamp climate -neutral. The model project in Eichkamp is unique in Germany and shows how existing settlements in the urban environment can benefit from the advantages of a local heating network.
| Location | Reinfeld school | Ernst-Adolf-Eschke School | Hans-Rosenthal sports facility | Mommsenstadion |

The table information shows the planned heat supplies and the estimated greenhouse gas emission savings for each of the institutions mentioned. The switch to climate -neutral energy will make a noticeable contribution to environmental protection and hopefully soon supply hundreds of households in Eichkamp with sustainable warmth.
