Berlin: Save the 'Rettet our trees' - free casting bags until July 31
The "Save our trees" campaign enables residents in Berlin to maintain free watering bags in order to protect the heat -prone trees from damage at their own front doors. Registrations for the campaign are still possible until Wednesday, July 31, 2024. In view of the increasingly called and dry summer, the street trees in Berlin get into water and are dependent on the help of the population.
District City Councilor Oliver Schruoffenger welcomes the campaign and emphasizes the importance of irrigation for the younger and middle -aged trees. He encourages the citizens to participate in the campaign and to consider the watering instructions on the campaign website.
In order to determine the needs of the trees and determine whether a tree is already being maintained, the action with Gieß works together the Kiez of CityLab Berlin. Trees can be marked on this platform after they have been watered. In addition, the street and green space office offers further information to support tree care.
The "Save our trees" campaign is an important contribution to the preservation of the city's trees and to promote environmental protection in Berlin. The cooperation between citizens, authorities and organizations is crucial to reduce the negative effects of heat and drought on the city trees.
The following table shows some information about the trees concerned and the importance of their irrigation:
| Tree species | Location | Nursing needs | Previous irrigation |
| ————- | ————- | —————– | --——————
| Ahorn | Alexanderplatz | High | Yes |
| Chestnut | Kurfürstendamm | Medium | No |
| Linde | Tiergarten | High | Yes |
The "Save our trees" campaign is an opportunity for the residents of Berlin to actively contribute to the preservation of urban nature and to raise awareness of the importance of tree protection. Every watering bag and every cast tree makes a difference and contributes to preserving the green areas of Berlin in hot summers.
