Mehr als sechs Millionen Erwachsene in Deutschland haben laut einer aktuellen Studie so geringe Lese- und Schreibkenntnisse, dass sie Texte kaum lesen, verstehen oder schreiben können. According to a current study, more than six million adults in Germany have such low reading and writing knowledge that they can hardly read, understand or write texts. This frightening statistics has meant that central social actors such as the Alpha alliance Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf have been working on a joint strategy for literacy and basic education since 2012 The Alfa-Mobil will be on Friday, July 5, 2024, under the patronage of educational councilor Heike Schmitt-Melz, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mierendorffplatz 19 in Charlottenburg. The aim is to inform those and people who want to help them provide information about basic education and to present the wide range of courses for reading and writing courses in the district.

Heike Schmitt-Melz emphasizes that there can be many different reasons why someone in adulthood still cannot read and write. Nevertheless, there are also many ways to learn these skills. She encourages people who know someone who suffers from this handicap to find out more at the event and to encourage those affected to come by, maybe even accompanied.

The Alfa-Mobil is organized by various actors, including the Federal Association of Swhababetization and Grundbildung e.V., the Alpha alliance Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, the AW-Non-Profit Society for Labor, Education and Living MBH, the Evangelical Family Aid Campus Daniel and the City West Adult Education Center.
