Federal government under pressure: Petition for arms export stop to Israel and end of the auxiliary block in Gaza

On Thursday, various NGOs and local initiatives started a petition that campaigns for a fair peace in Gaza. Under the title "For a just peace in Gaza. Stop arms exports & end auxiliary blockade!" The petition is a civil society protest against the intention of the federal government to continue to deliver weapons to Israel despite documented violations of international law. It makes eight clear demands on the federal government to fundamentally change its political reaction to the war in Gaza.

dr. med. Angelika Clauss, chair of the medical peace organization IPPNW, demands that the rescue of human life must have a top priority for the federal government: "In Gaza, human rights are violated every day. 40,000 people have already been dealt with directly through attacks by the Israeli military. However, the number of dead is many times higher.

The petition was initiated by seven organizations, including Care Deutschland e.V., IPPNW Germany, Medico International, NRC Refugee Aid Germany, Oxfam Germany e.V., Pax Christi Deutsche Section and World Peace Service e.V. It is supported by numerous other organizations.

The petition is an opportunity to draw attention to the urgent need to make a fair peace in Gaza and to persuade the federal government to change its policy. With broad support from civil society, the pressure can be built up to find a political solution and prevent further acts of violence.
