Federal government in criticism: child poverty remains untouched!
Berlin (ots)
In a serious wake -up call to the federal government, a new survey by Save the Children shows: The doubling of child benefit for a ridiculous five euros and the child's excess surcharge is simply not sufficient! One year before the Bundestag election it becomes clear: Parents finally demand clear concepts in the fight against the ever increasing child poverty in Germany!
Eric Großhaus, an expert in child poverty, raises an alarm: "The government disappointed in the fight against child poverty!" Parents want more than mere cosmetic changes. Just 84 percent of the parents surveyed consider the planned increases to be far too low. It takes a fundamentally new approach - and that immediately!
parents run storm against a lack of support!
The representative survey on behalf of Save the Children shows that the results of the Forsa survey are overwhelming. Proud 93 percent of parents agree: more investments in education are essential! More free leisure activities and higher financial support are also a must!
Bitter truth: 58 percent of parents want easier opportunities to apply for social benefits. Nicole Trieloff from Save the Children warns: "The right to leisure and participation is entitled to every child in Germany!" But many parents cannot even offer their children attractive leisure activities. 13 percent complain of financial bottlenecks, especially affairs are single parents, where the proportion of alarming 29 percent increases!
The demands are loud!
What exactly does Save the Children ask? A clear answer:
- a child -friendly basic security for everyone!
- A new minimum existence for children that enables them to participate in social participation!
- massive investments in social infrastructure and education!
- A joint action against child poverty from all political actors!
The survey also reveals that almost three quarters of the parents (73 percent) are convinced that the financial situation for families will deteriorate dramatically in the coming years. The forecast for families with a net account income is particularly dark, where almost 80 percent of a deterioration assumes!
The numbers are alarming! Parents in Germany under pressure while many children in the future generation suffer from poverty. Save the Children not only offers solutions, but also demands decisive measures from politics. The time of talking is over - now action is required!
