Federal police impose temporary ban on having dangerous objects at Berlin's S-Bahn stations
Dangerous objects must not be carried out temporarily at six Berlin S-Bahn stations. The federal police decided on this due to many acts of violence. The temporary ban on driving applies to dangerous tools, firearms, shock guns, cutting, shock and stab weapons as well as knives of all kinds. The ban is valid on Fridays and Saturdays from July 28th to July 30th from 4 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The federal police emphasized that carrying these dangerous objects is prohibited for security reasons. Compliance with the prohibition ban is strictly controlled. In the event of violations, the objects can be ensured and there is a risk of penalty payment. This measure is to prevent crimes and protect both fellow travelers and emergency services.
According to the federal police, a large number of violent offenses have been committed on rail systems for years. Especially with knives, crimes are repeatedly committed. In order to counteract this development, the Federal Police had already banned a similar ban in March. At that time, over 900 people were checked during the controls and a total of 26 dangerous items were ensured. Eleven knives, eight irritants and various impact and stab weapons were found, including telescopic strokes, an electro pulse device and a scalpel.
The federal police hopes to reduce violence on the stations concerned and increase security for all passengers and emergency services. It remains to be seen whether this measure achieves the desired effects and what further steps are taken to combat violent crime.
