Federal Congress School Psychology 2024: A step into the future of educational psychology
in Hamburg will be the 25th Federal Congress of School Psychology from September 10th to 13th, 2024 under the motto "Mental healthy into the future!" take place. This significant event is already a strong interest and is fully booked within a very short time. This high interest illustrates the central role of school psychologists in today's education system.
The challenges for schools have grown enormously in recent years. Current figures show that in Germany only one school psychologist comes to over 5,000 students and more than 300 teachers. These displacements are contrasting to the increasing requirements caused by a growing shortage of teachers and the resulting increase in psychological stress among pupils. Teachers report concentration problems and an increase in future fears among the students. These issues are not only of local, but of national interest.
The relevance of the school psychologists increases steadily in this context. They play a crucial role in supporting children and adolescents in their psychosocial development and preparing them for the challenges of the future. Mental health is essential, not only for the individual educational path, but also for social participation, which is why school psychology has a key position.
The congress is with a lecture by Prof. Dr. Thomas Martens from the Medical School Hamburg opened, which deals with the topic "The magic of learning motivation". This is particularly important because motivation is considered a driver for learning processes. The senator for school and vocational training in Hamburg, Ksenija Bekeris, will also speak greetings, which underlines the political support of the topic.
A wide -ranging program gives an insight into the challenges and solutions in the field of school psychology. Topics such as the prevention of radicalization, crisis intervention, school absenteeism and the promotion of health aspects are the focus and show the complexity of the tasks that can be mastered in everyday school life. This also deals with innovative approaches to digitization and the use of artificial intelligence that have the potential to change everyday school life.
With the motto "School psychology in the departure", a competition is organized during the congress, which is intended to promote new ideas and concepts for transformation of the education system. The aim is to question the existing structures and develop future -oriented paths in order to ensure optimal school development of all students. The congress not only sees itself as an information event, but also as a platform for the active participation of school psychology in Germany.
The upcoming changes and the growing demands on the education system make it necessary for school psychologists to be upgraded in their role. Only through the provision of suitable resources and the relevant training can you meet the responsibility of strengthening children and adolescents and optimally preparing for the challenges of the future.
The initiatives of the congress reflect the need to continuously work on the improvement and development of school psychological offers. The commitment of the BDP is an important step in this direction and shows that mental health in schools has to take a prioritized role in transforming the educational landscape.
