BUND promotes innovative analysis platform for sustainable mobility measures in Kaiserslautern
Kaiserslautern is represented at the 6th Nakomo annual conference
In today's modern world, sustainable mobility has become an important topic. Municipalities around the world are working hard to find traffic and mobility solutions that improve both the environment and the quality of life of the citizens. In this context, the 6th annual conference of the national competence network for sustainable mobility (Nakomo) took place in Berlin from 19 to 20 June.
The conference was entitled "Sustainable. Mobile. Plan. For livelihood and powerful cities and regions" and presented the efforts of 17 municipalities that developed sustainable urban mobility plans as part of the funding program Digitization of municipal transport systems (DKV). One of these communities is Kaiserslautern, which presented the project "Transport and Mobility Analysis platform" (VMAP).
The aim of VMAP is to support data-based processes to implement the sustainable urban mobility plan "Klima+ 2030" and to better evaluate the effects of traffic and mobility measures. At the conference in Berlin, the project manager Sebastian Schulze presented the project that distinguishes Kaiserslautern as a pioneer in sustainable mobility planning.
The national competence network for sustainable mobility (Nakomo) was launched in 2019 to support municipalities in implementing sustainable traffic solutions. By networking municipalities, countries, federal government, experts and stakeholders, funding opportunities should be made known and the practical implementation of sustainable mobility is to be supported.
Participation in Kaiserslautern in the 6th Nakomo annual conference is an important step for the city on the way to sustainable mobility. With projects such as VMAP, the city sets an example of environmentally conscious traffic solutions and contributes to the quality of life of its citizens.
