National circulatory economic strategy: BNW gives positive assessment

The national circulatory business strategy (NKWS) received great praise from the Federal Association of Sustainable Economy (BNW) in Berlin. The association emphasized that it was high time to return from the linear economic system and to promote the circular economy. The BNW is convinced that the NKWs is an important step in the right direction and offers a chance for a fresh start.

Dr. Katharina Reuter, Managing Director of the BNW, commented on the draft of the NKWs: "It is crucial that the strategy creates a framework that strengthens the competitiveness of circular materials, products and business models. This is the only way we can achieve the goals of the strategy and make circular economic practices at the standard."

The BNW emphasizes the importance of reusable systems for avoiding waste. An increased standardization and concrete measures to promote reusable systems could make a significant contribution to achieving the goals of the NKWs. In addition, the Association sees potential for improvement in the areas of information and communication technology as well as electrical appliances.

In the field of clothing and textiles, the BNW calls for a more concrete design of the measures. It is necessary to create technical capacities for high -quality sorting, collection and recycling of clothing. The introduction of economic incentives for circular business models can make a significant contribution here.

The association also welcomes the goals of the NKWs in the construction and building sector, in particular the strengthening of the reuse of components. In the area of plastics, the BNW calls for the reduction of market -breaking subsidies and the creation of stable markets for plastic recyclates.

An important point for the BNW is the fact that the federal government not only regulates, but also becomes active in public procurement. As aspects of the circular economy in public procurement, the most economical and ecological offer can be promoted.

In order to effectively implement the measures of the NKWs, the BNW advocates the appropriate investments and an action program to promote circular economy. Financing could be done, for example, by the deletion of climate -damaging subsidies.
