Bio-LNG in heavy goods traffic: key to CO2 reduction in Germany

In the fight against the climate crisis, the association Future Gas is now pushing for a real turn in heavy goods traffic! With a new position paper, you set clear demands to establish Bio-LNG as an environmentally friendly alternative. What does that mean? Buck up, because organic lng could be the key to clean roads in Germany!

BIO-LNG, the environmentally friendly gas from organic waste, not only offers massive advantages for our planet, but is also always easier available. In the first half of 2024, almost 70,000 tons of LNG were sold in Germany, with astonishing 60 percent of which were organic LNG! And now it comes: With this impressive amount, around 139,000 tons of CO2 have already been saved. These are numbers that speak for themselves!

politics under pressure: urgent measures required!

But future gas does not remain idle! In view of the pressing climate goals, they demand a radical change of course from politics. In particular, they are calling for the THG reduction rate to increase to 35 percent by 2030. Dr. Timm Kehler, board member of the future, is convinced: "We now need an ambitious climate policy that includes all available technologies. Bio-LNG can immediately help to make heavy goods traffic more climate-friendly!"

But that's not all! The cost of the logistics industry is another hot topic. Future gas demands tax incentives for the use of biofuels. The reduction in energy tax on low -emission fuels could help logistical companies to implement climate -friendly alternatives quickly. This is high time, because many companies are currently shy away from switching to environmentally friendly biofuels due to high costs!

measures for a greener future

Another urgent problem affects the toll regulations for gas-powered trucks. There is currently no financial advantage, although these vehicles with organic LNG are particularly low in emissions. Future Gas demands a toll reduction here! This could actually motivate companies to switch to climate -friendly trucks and thus make an important contribution to climate protection.

But that's not all! Future gas also fights for a fleet regulation open to technology, which clearly focuses on organic LNG. In addition, it is required to reduce import hurdles to facilitate access to sustainably produced organic LNG from countries such as Ukraine. That could open new doors and accelerate the spread of bio-LNG enormously!

Christian Schneider, Managing Director of Vigo Bioenergy, confirms the importance of bio-LNG for decarbonization: "For us, organic lng is not just a climate-friendly alternative, but a necessary solution." His company, a pioneer in the production of low -carbon fuels, ensures that in Germany and across Europe the increasing need is covered by operating an impressive network of petrol stations.

The message is clear: Bio-LNG could be the future of heavy goods traffic. Now it is up to politics to take the right course to make our transport network greener!
