Drunk man holds rescue workers in Bad Belzig for hours
Large deployment at the broadcast in Bad Belzig: Drunk man ensures challenges
A drunk man held the rescue workers of the Potsdam-Mittelmark rescue work on Sunday evening and presented them with great challenges. He had sat on the broadcast mast near the Weitzgrund settlement and could no longer come down on his own. The police were informed and then alerted the Bad Belzig fire brigade, which in turn called for the height rescuers from Brück.
First, a police helicopter discovered the 33-year-old on an upper platform of the transmission mast. The firefighters from Bad Belzig and the surrounding area illuminated the tower to prepare for the rescue measures. The power supply and the radio radiation had to be temporarily interrupted in order to be able to get the man safely from the antenna wearer. As a result, the Berlin-Brandenburg radio could not be received at times on its FM frequencies in Bad Belzig and the surrounding area.
After the tower -owned power supply was switched off, five height rescuers from Brück began the ascent. It took about 50 minutes for them to reach the man and started rescue. At 1.02 a.m. the patient was finally roped and handed over to the emergency services on the ground at 1.56 a.m. A camera drone that is equipped with thermal imaging cameras was used to clarify the situation. First a police helicopter provided lighting, later a Bundeswehr helicopter took over this task.
Overall, the assignment took around seven hours. Around 90 fire brigade, police and Bundeswehr were involved. The district fire chief of Potsdam-Mittelmark praised the rescue workers for their commitment and good training. The 33-year-old man was taken to a hospital for sobering and is also investigated by the police for trespassing. The operating company Deutsche Fundorm GmbH has filed a complaint.
