Berlin and Brandenburg demand: Remove rail connection to Poland urgently!

Berlin, Deutschland - Berlin and Brandenburg are vigorous to expand the rail connections between the capital and Poland! In a powerful position paper, the two federal states together with the transport association and the Polish Voivodeship Lebus are calling for an urgent improvement in the current route conditions. The connection between Berlin and Küstrin, which leads to Gorzów Wielkopolski and Krzyż, does not meet the requirements for a future -proof traffic service - the route is not electrified and mostly only in a way!

Currently, the route in the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan is only classified as a "potential need", but that has to change! From the perspective of those responsible, the route deserves the status of "urgent needs" so that the funding is secured by the federal government. An expert opinion estimates the cost of expansion to a whopping 1.3 billion euros. The countries alone cannot manage this massive sum. The expansion would not only optimize freight traffic, but also ensure more stable regional traffic for the region and enable the urgently needed alternatives to the overloaded route to Poznan.
