Berlin fights for the green: Which districts suffer from garbage and rats!
Tempelhofer Feld, Berlin, Deutschland - Berlin is a green oasis in the middle of the metropolis, but the maintenance of the parks is expensive and complicated! While the Berlin city cleaning (BSR) is only responsible for 237 out of around 2500 green areas, the districts have to dig vigorously into their pockets. In particular in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district, which spends over 500,000 euros a year alone for cleaning its 375 green areas, the financial pressure is enormous. Street -most garbage and overflowing waste containers drive the costs rapidly.
In contrast, districts such as Pankow or Steglitz-Zehlendorf with annual expenses of around 80,000 and 50,000 euros have been released comparatively well. The waste disposal there is largely done by your own employees. While cleaning in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf devours almost 300,000 euros and is often taken over by external service providers, other districts fight with problems such as thrown away foods that lead to rat plague. It remains to be seen which measures are taken to optimize the traffic situation of the urban lungs for the citizens.
