Berlin (dpa/bb) - With the colorful motto "Hinder, crazy, celebrating solidarity", several hundred citizens gathered in the German capital to draw attention to the rights of people with disabilities. This annual parade, which this time invited for the eleventh time, started in the afternoon in the Hasenheide and moved towards Kottbusser Tor.
The central concern of the demonstration was the demand for an inclusive education and the world of work. The organizers made it clear that people with disabilities should have the same opportunities in school, training and work as everyone else. An inclusive society in which disabled people not only find their place in special workshops, but in regular employment relationships - be it in a paid or voluntary form.
Another important concern of the demonstration was social participation and protection against violence. These points underline the need for general awareness of the concerns and rights of people with disabilities. The call for more commitment in Germany in terms of human rights and the dismantling of existing barriers was therefore clearly audible.
This parade is of great importance, not only for those directly involved, but for society as a whole. It illustrates the existing deficits and gives impulses for positive changes that promote inclusion and common cooperation. The influence of such events on politics and public perception cannot be underestimated.
