Berlin helps! Cats from the shelter enthusiastic about new scratch furniture!
In the Berlin animal shelter, the largest of its kind in Europe, there is currently an emergency: Over 550 cats are urgently looking for a new home. The shelter fights with a high number of animals, many are sick, traumatized or in poor health. Over 1,100 cats have been recorded since January, including numerous found animals. The situation in the cat health station, which is almost fully occupied with more than 190 seats, is particularly worrying.

The situation has worsened in such a way that the animal protection association Berlin drew attention to the precarious circumstances on the international day of the cat. So -called agony such as the Scottish Folds, which often suffer from serious health problems due to breeding characteristics are particularly affected. "If treatment at the vet is too expensive, the poor cats will be suspended and left to their fate," explains the TVB chairman Eva Rönspieß. This is further exacerbated by the reproduction of non -neutered free -range cats, of which around 10,000 drive around in Berlin.
Despite these frightening conditions, there are also positive news from the shelter: thanks to a fundraiser, over 50 new scratch furniture has already been provided for the cats. The animal shelter was delighted to report on Facebook that the new furniture is excellently accepted. "Xylan and Marti say thank you!" It is said to be a reward, while the four -legged protégés let off steam with the new toys. If you want to help, you can find out on the website of the shelter which further donations are needed.
The shelter also presents many cats for mediation on its website. This includes Lucy, a ten -year -old cat who was given by her family because of her family health problems and is looking for a loving, patient home. Likewise, the four -year -old Jasashi, who needs a cat -experienced home because of his epilepsy. Missy and Lola, two shy cats born on the street, also hope for a new, safe home. Information on the adoption can be found on the website of the animal shelter or under the specified contact details, such as berliner-kurier.de or berlin-live.de .
