Berlin against cooperation with mosque communities to combat anti -Semitism

Berlin-the mayor of the Berlin district of Neukölln, Martin Hikel (SPD), has expressed concerns that working with mosque communities to combat Islamic anti-Semitism was not effective. He describes it as a naive belief that anti -Semitism can be combated through cooperation with mosque associations. Hikel argues that many of these clubs had a political mandate and represented only a small part of the Muslim believers. The financial support and official recognition of such clubs are therefore problematic and would set false signals.
