Berlin demands: No more brutal executions in Iran!

On October 10, 2024, an urgent conference for the World Day took place in Berlin against the death penalty, which drew attention to the dramatic increase in executions in Iran. Under the motto "Iran: End of executions, call for accountability for atrocities", prominent speakers gathered, including Prof. Dr. Rita Süssmuth and Member of the Bundestag Thomas Lutze (SPD) to address the human rights crisis in Iran. Maryam Rajavi, the elected President of the National Council of Resistance Iran, appealed to the international community to stop constant injustice and to condemn the horrors of the Iranian regime.

The alarming numbers of Amnesty International prove to be shocking: 74% of all global executions took place in Iran in 2023. Since then, at least 264 prisoners, including political opposition figures, have been executed. These brutal acts throw a bright light on the repressive measures of the Iranian regime against any form of criticism. Rajavi emphasized the need to honor the courageous political prisoners who fight against the conditions in Iran and initiate hunger strikes in prisons. The event, organized by Iranian communities in Europe, became an important platform for mobilization against the death penalty and human rights violations in Iran, with over 1,500 personalities from 78 countries signed a supportive explanation according to information from www.presseportal.de .
