Berlin is preparing for a complete repetition of the past Bundestag election, as the state election manager Stephan Bröchler announced in a video published on Monday. Together with the districts, they work intensively on planning for the European elections on June 9, 2024.

The state election manager was at a hearing from the Federal Constitutional Court last week, but could not provide any information about when the judgment was announced and in which direction it could go. The only fact is that the election must take place within 60 days after the judgment.

Compared to the repetition of the election to the Berlin House of Representatives, almost half a year ago, in which 90 days were planned for the implementation, this time only 60 days remain for the preparation and implementation of the election. This was determined on the basis of the judgment of the Federal Constitutional Court.

The lawsuit against the repeat of the election was submitted by the Union faction in the Bundestag.
