drivers with 119 kilometers per hour caught in Berlin's city center
A driver was caught in the middle of Berlin at a speed of 119 kilometers per hour, although a top speed of 30 km/h is allowed in this zone. So he was traveling four times as quickly as allowed. One would expect the driver's license to be withdrawn. But to all the surprise, the Reinickendorfer can keep his driver's license.
Only 15 months later the driver was guilty of participating in a forbidden motor vehicle race. Nevertheless, the driver's license was not withdrawn.
The forbidden race took place on Reinickendorfer Residenzstraße. There, the speed is partly limited to 30 km/h to reduce the risk of accidents. On April 27, 2022, a BMW 530D was recorded by the police in a radar control at 9:35 p.m. at a speed of 119 kilometers per hour. The radar control was set up due to complaints from residents via car racing.
The driver, Zübeyir C. (21), is a high school diploma and attends a master school. He lives with his parents and works in the family business. He stated that he only owned the car for two months and let himself be carried away for a racing ride. He said: "I only stepped on the gas to try the car." When asked by the judge whether he looked at the speedometer, he replied: "Only accelerated." The judge continued: "Did you continue to drive a car afterwards?" The driver replied: "Yes, but nothing happened, just received a parking ticket for incorrect parking."
As a result of the judgment, the driver was found guilty of taking part in a non -permitted motor vehicle race. He has to pay a money fee of 800 euros that goes to a non -profit association. He also has to take part in a traffic education course and has a two -month driving ban. The judge commented on the judgment as follows: "It is a one -time misconduct, a typical misconduct at a young age. They were lucky that nobody got in the way." The prosecutor had applied for the confiscation of the driver's license.
