Beelitz celebrates asparagus: 60,000 visitors flock to the festival highlight!

Last weekend, this year's asparagus festival took place in Beelitz, Brandenburg, which attracted numerous visitors. Around 60,000 people celebrated the incoming asparagus season for three days, which is of great importance in the region. The event started on Friday and ended on Sunday under strict security requirements. For example, reinforced pocket controls were carried out at the entrances to banish glass bottles, cutting and stab weapons as well as drugs. Despite these measures, the mood on the festival was exuberant and happy.

A highlight of the asparagus festival was the big parade on Sunday, in which around 50 clubs and organizations from Beelitz took part. Among the participants were schools, kindergartens, companies, sports clubs and, last but not least, the asparagus stations in the region. The asparagus queen was of course not missing. Prominent artists such as the Weather Girls and Thomas Anders performed on stage, which raised the musical entertainment to a high level.

safety precautions and organization

This year the festival had to take place under increased security requirements, which also meant a certain change for many visitors. The organizers had announced in advance to carry out increased controls to ensure the safety of all guests. This was the only way to enable a relaxed festival with cross -hedge -ups expected visitors. The security measures in particular included the ban on glass bottles and dangerous objects.

Beelitz is widely known as an important growing area for asparagus, which traditionally ends its harvest on John's Day, June 24th. The asparagus festival was originally launched as a thank -you event for the seasonal workers. As in previous years, admission to the event was free of charge, which motivated many people to visit.

The festival also offered visitors a large selection of asparagus dishes, which put the culinary delights of the region in the foreground. In the previous year the event still counted around 50,000 visitors, this year a noticeable increase in visitor numbers is determined, which indicates the great interest in the traditional event.

As with many other events in the region, such as the tree blossom festival in Werder or the Neuruppiner Martinimarkt, the asparagus festival is also an important part of the Brandenburg culture. The celebrations not only offer the opportunity to enjoy local specialties, but also to experience the community and the traditions of the region.
