Bee calls for strong adjustments in the power plant security law for the energy transition
Discover the current statement of the Federal Association for Renewable Energy (Bee) on the Kraftwerk Security Act (KWSG). The BEE calls for a revision of the law with a clear focus on cost -efficient, decentralized renewable energies instead of fossil reserve workers. Learn more about the potential of bioenergy, KWK and other technologies for sustainable and resilient energy future.

Bee calls for strong adjustments in the power plant security law for the energy transition
renewable energies in focus! The Federal Association of Renewable Energie e.V. (Bee) raises the voice and calls for a radical rethink in the Kraftwerk Security Act (KWSG). At a hot press conference in Berlin on October 23, 2024, it was clarified that it is not enough to only create new incentives for hydrogen-capable gas power plants. Instead, the view must be increasingly directed towards decentralized, cost-efficient renewable energies, combined heat and power (KWK) and innovative storage solutions!
bee president Simone Peter made it clear: “A decentralized renewable energy system needs an equally flexible back-up! Central, fossil reserve powerworks are not only harmful to the environment, they are also economically a step in the wrong direction. According to our calculations GW! ”
clear change of course required!
The association calls for a fundamental revision of the tender criteria. "We must not commit ourselves prematurely on hydrogen-capable natural gas or non-hydrogen-capable systems," emphasizes Peter. "The energy transition must not be slowed down.
The requirement is clear: fossil capacities must be quickly replaced by renewable energy sources. In addition, the requirements for the storage and use of carbon technologies (CCS/CCU) are to be recessed to prevent an extension of fossil business models.
"Green hydrogen must be the only option! CCS and CCU cannot be the solution for climate -damaging mode of production. The geographical and financial boundaries are clear! Bioenergy will play the central role on the way to decarbonization", Peter concludes with emphasis.
Time to act is now! The BEE relies on a radical change of course in energy policy, which could significantly shape the future of renewable energies. And the message is clear: cost efficiency and environmental friendliness have to go hand in hand!
